The Personal Retreat process was born out of my frustration with the traditional 12 Week Year approach. While the idea of setting and achieving goals in shorter cycles was appealing, it didn't stick for me because I wasn't emotionally connected to my goals and had taken on too many "priorities" at once. I was spreading myself too thin and getting frustrated by a lack of progress, but the real issue was that I lacked clarity on what really mattered.

That changed when I discovered the idea of "thinking time" from Keith Cunningham—intentionally stepping back to identify the real obstacles holding us back. So I scheduled my first Personal Retreat: an entire day away from distractions to reflect on my vision and values, what I truly wanted out of life, and where I was headed.

That time alone gave me the space I needed to unravel my thoughts and find the clarity I so desperately needed. It helped me finally come to grips with what I needed to say "no" to so I could focus on what was truly important. I returned feeling clear-headed and motivated, with newfound focus on the intentions that mattered most.
